This little painting came out of the blue as Beth experimented with balancing on a wooden support I have in the studio. I'm intrigued by the extreme foreshortening created by the angle and extraordinary nature of the pose - which was very challenging to hold - and that elements of the picture have the feel of a portrait, despite the subject's face not being visible.
